Elizabeth L Anton Brings Whimsy, Wonder, and Silly Surprises to Young Readers in The Strangest Wednesday
New York, NY – August 19, 2026 – In The Strangest Wednesday, Elizabeth L Anton invites children into a playful and unexpected grocery store adventure where an ordinary shopping trip turns into something wonderfully strange.
The story begins simply, with a trip to the grocery store. Everything appears normal at first. The shelves are full, the lights are bright, and people are shopping as usual. But things quickly take a curious turn when the main character enters the cereal aisle and meets an older lady with bright green hair, a pink cardigan, shiny yellow bowling shoes, and a baby carriage.
From there, the day becomes stranger with every page. A banana peel causes a surprising slip, the lady’s arm stretches like a rubber band, and soon the entire store seems to be filled with people wearing pink cardigans and yellow bowling shoes. Just when the reader thinks the weirdness may be over, the main character steps outside and discovers that it is raining hot dogs from the sky.
With colorful illustrations, simple language, and a fun sense of surprise, The Strangest Wednesday celebrates imagination and the magic hidden inside everyday places. Young readers will enjoy the silly situations, bright visuals, and gentle humor as they follow a shopping trip that becomes anything but normal.
At its heart, the book reminds children that not every day has to make perfect sense. Some days are ordinary. Some days are strange. And some days become stories worth remembering.
The Strangest Wednesday is a light, funny, and imaginative children’s book for families who enjoy playful storytelling, colorful scenes, and a little bit of magic in the middle of everyday life.
