New Cat equipment lets the Spartanburg-area contractor take on deeper digs and bigger projects for the neighbors it serves.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – July 28, 2026 – Rock Solid Septic & Excavation has expanded its equipment fleet with next-generation Caterpillar machinery, giving its crews greater reach and lifting power to handle the hard clay and tight lots that make septic work in the Upstate challenging.

Bigger, more capable equipment means Rock Solid can keep more of a project in-house and finish jobs that used to require calling in an outside contractor. For homeowners, that shows up as shorter timelines and one accountable crew from the first dig to the final grade.

Leading the additions is a Cat 306 CR, a machine in Caterpillar’s 6-ton class. It runs a Cat C2.4 turbo diesel rated at 55.9 horsepower, and with its long-stick option it reaches a maximum dig depth of about 162 inches. Its compact-radius design reduces the space required for rear swing, making the machine better suited to confined residential sites. The operator still has to maintain safe clearance from structures and property boundaries.

Inside the cab, the operator works from a next-generation LCD touchscreen that puts a live camera view and real-time machine data within easy reach. Cat Stick Steer lets the operator switch from traditional travel controls to joystick steering, reducing effort and improving control while repositioning the machine on confined sites. That control matters when the crew is working near existing structures, utilities, or landscaping.

The fleet also gains a Cat 265 compact track loader powered by a Cat C2.8TA engine rated at 74.3 horsepower. The machine has a rated operating capacity of 2,822 pounds and a maximum bucket-pin height of 11 feet. High-flow hydraulics are available for attachments that require additional hydraulic performance. Its tracked undercarriage improves traction and flotation on soft ground, although site conditions still determine where the machine can operate without excessive rutting or soil compaction.
